Sad News

I recently found out from a friend, that my one time Philosophy teacher, Fr. Quintin Turiel O.P. passed away in 2005. This came as a bit of a shock, and I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. Fr. Turiel was a kind, brilliant, humble, holy and sweet man. Father Quintin Turiel was a Dominican Friar of a priory in Madrid, Spain, and taught in the U.S. and the Philippines, if I recall correctly. I had the great grace and pleasure of being one of his students while at St. Michael's Abbey, in Silverado, Ca. He was a true Dominican, and faithful disciple of his great Master, St. Thomas Aquinas. I treasure every minute I had the great fortune to spend in his presence.

Thank you Padre, for your teaching, your wisdom, and for absolving my many sins in the holy sacrament of confession. You are greatly missed, dear Padre.
Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him, O Lord, And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him. May His Soul, Through The Mercy of God Rest In Peace. Amen.
I would beg anyone reading this post, in your love of Christ and neighbor, to pause a moment, and offer an Ave, or two for Padre Quintin. Thank you.

DEO GRATIAS!

Fr. Quintin Turiel's residence in Madrid was at St. Peter Martyr Priory, which contains the blessed remains of one of the greatest Spanish Dominicans in history, the holy Fr. Tomas de Torquemada. Fr. Turiel was ever-vigilant in defending the reputation of this holy saint of his Order, though his reputation has been unjustly marred for centuries by the great enemies of the Church.

Thanks, David, for that information.

Thank you for posting this tribute to Fr. Turiel. He was a great Theologian and I will never forget my classes with him either. We held a Requiem Mass for him at St. Michael's abbey after his death.
