Pat Buchanan, Making a Monkey Out Of Darwin
“You have no notion of the intrigue that goes on in this blessed world of science,” wrote Thomas Huxley. “Science is, I fear, no purer than any other region of human activity; though it should be.”
As “Darwin’s bulldog,” Huxley would himself engage in intrigue, deceit and intellectual property theft to make his master’s theory gospel truth in Great Britain.
He is quoted above for two reasons. Read More.

Ancient Roman Mass, Fitchburg, MA
The seven altar boys in attendance added much to the reverent and transcendent atmosphere of the Solemn Liturgy: the incense from the thurible, the candlelight from the torches carried by the boys, and the sound of the bells rung at key points.
The following impressions from one of the attendees are typical of the responses expressed:
“I think it's fair to call this the beginning of the restoration of the immemorial Holy Mass codified by St. Pius V to the church of the Immaculate Conception. I'm glad to say that our (my family's) hopes were high, but we were entirely unprepared for the palpably sacred ambience that persisted in the church throughout the sacred liturgy and which accompanied us right out the door and into the church hall (where I spent most of my time talking about the Mass, I think). It brought back a flood of memories of the best days I'd seen when I was a boy and the blessed years we had the privilege of going to Mass at Holy Trinity in Boston (where our two girls were baptized). I had the distinct impression that Father, the altar servers, and the choir were actually praying (not acting out roles) as they solemnly carried out their offices with unaffected reverence. I trust that everyone could plainly see how beautiful the church is with its French blue and gold, especially in the magnificent statue of Our Lady, and the organ filling every corner, at times with sounds of reflection, at others with those of majesty; but even now when I recall the ensemble of those impressions, I'm overwhelmed. I think one cannot really overestimate the beguiling power of the truly sacred. My family thanks you and all those who worked so long, so hard, and withsuch loving devotion to bring the truly extraordinary Holy Mass back toImmaculate Conception Church. May Our Lord and His holy Mother and ours bless you abundantly with their most excellent graces here on Earth and forever in Heaven.
With gratitude in Jesus and Mary, John and Connie Mick and family.”

All are invited to experience worship in this Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite which will be offered every Sunday at 8AM as a Sung High Mass when possible (or else as a Low Mass). The Sacrament of Confession takes place before the Mass from 7:15 to 7:50AM, and the Rosary is recited at 7:30AM. For more information, visit the website which is under construction at www.immaculateconceptionfitchburg.com.
Father David Phillipson was trained to offer the Ancient Roman Rite by the Fraternity of St. Peter and has worked in traditional parishes for several years. Father will also hold spiritual conferences and traditional devotions, and administer the Sacraments according to the Extraordinary Form. “Together with the Latin Mass Community, I wish to thank Bishop McManus and Father Thien for making available the celebration of Mass in the Ancient Rite in this beautiful Church.
I look forward to serving the community and invite all to attend and experience Mass in the Ancient Usage. I am happy to help anyone to learn to follow the missal or to answer any questions they may have. Any priests who would like assistance in learning this rite are welcome to contact me: frdavidphil4@gmail.com
Contributions to help with the start up costs for this endeavor are very welcome and may be sent to the Church at 59 Walnut Street in Fitchburg 01420. Please make your tax deductible donation to Immaculate Conception Church EF (EF designating the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite).

Let Us Join In Prayer
I write at the request of Father Prior of Clear Creek Monastery in the Diocese of Tulsa.
Father Francois de Feydeau, the subprior of Clear Creek, bravely continues his fight for his life on earth, while being as ready as one can to make the "long walk" (as he calls it, referring to a book recently read in the refectory at Clear Creek) to the other side of things, if that be God’s will. The monks are going to pray a novena to Dom Gueranger, founder of the Benedictine congregation to which Clear Creek belongs, beginning TODAY, the 30th (I apologise for this tardy notice – for 24 hours I could not get access to my email account). This novena leads up to the feast of Our Lady of Providence, on July 9th, linked to the history of the restoration of Solesmes by Dom Gueranger in 1837.
Father Prior wrote to me, "You may do what you like as far as sharing it. Maybe we have already tired our friends with the last one.Whatever you think appropriate.
"To borrow a phrase from an old friend, what I think appropriate is that we all of us should pray our guts our for Father Subprior.
Please circulate this novena among your parishioners & friends.
June 30-July 8, 2009
Almighty and eternal God,Humbly and with confidence, we implore from Thy goodness the cure of our brother, who is gravely ill. Deign to bestow this miracle upon him, through the intercession of Thy servant, Dom Prosper Gueranger, for Thine own glory, for the advancement of his cause of beatification, for the sanctification of our monasteries, and for the good of the entire Church.
Through Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Saint John Marie Vianney, pray for us.
Our Blessed Father, Saint Benedict, pray for us.
Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us.

Letter from the Orthodox to the Federatio Internationalis Una Voce
Mr. President,
You will, we hope, understand that it is not the intention of the Orthodox Church to interfere in matters which pertain to the Bishop of Rome. Insofar as the Sacred Liturgy is the public prayer of the Church by and in which the Most Holy Redeemer continues to pray and offer Himself to the Eternal Father in a fitting sacrifice, the Orthodox Church admires the goal of the Foederatio Internationalis Una Voce No doubt the sensus fidelium moves you to promote the ìextraordinary formî of the Roman Rite for the proven spiritual welfare of todayís Catholics of the Roman Church, as it was for countless saints.

We must admit that several points cause many Orthodox to be perplexed and not a little worried. First, contrary to popular belief, liturgical changes are not inconceivable in the Orthodox Church. However, since liturgical change must always allow Our Lord to pray in His Church ëin spirit and in truthí and therefore in a manner that is befitting, liturgical changes must always be an organic flow from the spiritual and intellectual (intus leggere) richness and vitality of a see (local or universal) which makes the changes. One cannot, therefore, ëplaní liturgical changes, otherwise they would risk bearing more the dubious mark of the genius temporis, rather than the will of the Son to pray in and through His Church to the Eternal Father in spiritu et veritate.

Second, the general theological and particular pastoral ethos underlying the traditional form of the Roman Rite is identical to that which ëinformsí the Divine Liturgy of the Orthodox Church. Therefore, many Orthodox fear that they will be considered ëextraordinaryí when full communion will be established between the two Churches. No matter how one interprets the term ëextraordinaryí, with its common or canonical meaning, the Orthodox Church is not aware that her public prayer is extraordinary. Therefore, the Orthodox Church appreciates the selfless efforts of Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinals CaÒizares Llovera and CastrillÛn Hoyos, Archbishop Ranjith and you, Mr. President, to promote a form of ëecumenismí in the profoundest sense of the word.
As you know, in recent decades the West in particular has been undergoing one of the gravest cultural crises in ages. When cultural crisis and a paucity of really great theologians, such as the Fathers of the Church, converge as a single phenomenon, the Church, historically, has been reluctant to make changes that vary from her proven course. Indeed during these periods of crisis, the Lord raises up great saints, popes, local bishops, lesser clerics, religious and laypersons in His Church who propose renewed spiritual vitality through special institutions and ecclesial structures to support the Church through the crisis. The Orthodox Church has satisfactorily addressed her own problems of a liturgical nature. Perhaps some of the more practical solutions which were used could be of help for the Catholic Church as well.
Hat tip to Mr. Ed Snyder for this letter.

Paschal Homily of St. John Chrysostom

If any man be devout and loveth God,
Let him enjoy this fair and radiant triumphal feast!
If any man be a wise servant,
Let him rejoicing enter into the joy of his Lord.
If any have laboured long in fasting,
Let him how receive his recompense.
If any have wrought from the first hour,
Let him today receive his just reward.
If any have come at the third hour,
Let him with thankfulness keep the feast.
If any have arrived at the sixth hour,
Let him have no misgivings;
Because he shall in nowise be deprived therefore.
If any have delayed until the ninth hour,
Let him draw near, fearing nothing.
And if any have tarried even until the eleventh hour,
Let him, also, be not alarmed at his tardiness.
For the Lord, who is jealous of his honour,
Will accept the last even as the first.
He giveth rest unto him who cometh at the eleventh hour,
Even as unto him who hath wrought from the first hour.
And He showeth mercy upon the last,
And careth for the first;
And to the one He giveth,
And upon the other He bestoweth gifts.
And He both accepteth the deeds,
And welcometh the intention,
And honoureth the acts and praises the offering.
Wherefore, enter ye all into the joy of your Lord;
Receive your reward,
Both the first, and likewise the second.
You rich and poor together, hold high festival!
You sober and you heedless, honour the day!
Rejoice today, both you who have fasted
And you who have disregarded the fast.
The table is full-laden; feast ye all sumptuously.
The calf is fatted; let no one go hungry away.
Enjoy ye all the feast of faith:
Receive ye all the riches of loving-kindness.
Let no one bewail his poverty,
For the universal Kingdom has been revealed.
Let no one weep for his iniquities,
For pardon has shown forth from the grave.
Let no one fear death,
For the Saviour's death has set us free.
He that was held prisoner of it has annihilated it.
By descending into Hell, He made Hell captive.
He embittered it when it tasted of His flesh.
And Isaiah, foretelling this, did cry:
Hell, said he, was embittered
When it encountered Thee in the lower regions.
It was embittered, for it was abolished.
It was embittered, for it was mocked.
It was embittered, for it was slain.
It was embittered, for it was overthrown.
It was embittered, for it was fettered in chains.
It took a body, and met God face to face.
It took earth, and encountered Heaven.
It took that which was seen, and fell upon the unseen.
O Death, where is thy sting?
O Hell, where is thy victory?
Christ is risen, and thou art overthrown!
Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen!
Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice!
Christ is risen, and life reigns!
Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave.
For Christ, being risen from the dead,
Is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
To Him be glory and dominion
Unto ages of ages.
Amen.

One Million Rosaries For Unborn Babies
scheduled for May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (February 2nd, 2009) - The 2nd annual ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES prayer event is scheduled to take place on Friday(May 1st), Saturday(May 2nd), and Sunday(May 3rd), 2009. A person wanting to be a participant will pray at least one Rosary on any of the three days for the following intention: For an end to the surgical and non-surgical killing of unborn human persons. This multinational pro-life prayer event is being coordinated by the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization.
"Last year's ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES prayer event was on one day only," said Patrick Benedict, president of the Memphis-based Saint Michael the Archangel Organization and a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in the Diocese of Memphis in Tennessee. " This year, Friday has been added for everyone, but particularly for students at schools. Sunday, also, has been added for everyone, but particularly for people to pray the Rosary either before or after Masses."
People planning on participating in the ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES prayer event are encouraged to register at www.SaintMichaelTheArchangelOrganization.org. Or, a person may let his/her intention be known by writing to: Saint Michael the Archangel Organization; P. O. Box 41257; Memphis, Tennessee 38174; U.S.A. Parishes, schools, organizations, etc. are welcome to register many Rosaries at the same time.
In addition to praying the Rosary, people are encouraged to let others know about the ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES prayer event. An "Information Page/Bulletin Insert" about the prayer event can be found at the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization's website(see above) or may be requested by writing to the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization(see above for the mailing address).
The Saint Michael the Archangel Organization recently coordinated the 10,000 MASSES FOR UNBORN BABIES Novena(January 13th - 21st, 2009). As part of this Novena, more than 3,000 Masses were offered in at least 18 countries(Australia, Canada, England, Germany, India, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Slovak, Singapore, South Africa, Trinidad, Uganda, U.S.A., The Vatican, and Vietnam).
" The ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES may be thought of as a spiritual bouquet for unborn babies. A person who is willing to participate will be united with many others in increasing the size and beauty of this spiritual bouquet for God's precious little ones," concluded Benedict.

You may want one of these unique bumper stickers for yourself, or you may want to give it away to someone you know. I hope you will consider making a donation and asking for one of these bumper stickers. The website www.SaintMichaelTheArchangelOrganization.org has information about this and shows a picture of the bumper sticker. Please know: A substantial increase in the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization's funding would be very helpful. I do thank each person reading this who has made a donation in the past.
I ask that you please pray one Hail Mary for the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization.
Sincerely,
Patrick Benedict
